Sustainability Camp

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Skopje Office together with Eco Logic, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to protection and conservation of the environment, for a second time organized the Sustainability Camp.

The camp took place from the 5th to the 8th of August on Ponikva where young people from the entire country gathered to discuss solutions for local action aiming towards the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) from the UN 2030 Agenda.

During the Camp, participants had the opportunity to be part of different activities, interactive tools and methods, eco games that enabled them to develop a dynamic discussion about increasing challenges and opportunities that the ambitious but also essential Agenda of SDGs 2030 urges for. By identifying challenges arising from the immediate surroundings and daily life, participants made significant recommendations, strategies and draft plans for addressing them through simultaneous implementation and monitoring of the goals of sustainable development.

The agenda of the Camp was enriched with two visits: one to the Tourist Info Center “Ponikva” where participants had a very dynamic discussion with representatives of Municipality of Kochani about the biodiversity of the Osogovo Mountains, the natural endowment and potential for eco-tourism and rural development, as well as mountain sport opportunities that will keep the center alive, while protection of nature is secured. The second visit was Educational Center “Negrevo” where participants discovered many interesting facts about the species and their homes. How nature protection is connected to sustaining life on earth is not a new thing, but it definitely provided participants with interesting ideas for shaping their daily activities in a positive manner.

After the camp, participants are expected to present their ideas, recommendations and concrete plans for sustainable schools, neighborhoods and cities in front of a wider audience that will include representatives of schools, municipalities, civil society organizations in order to raise awareness about the significance of SDGs 2030 as well as confirm the role that young people can have in achieving the goals and creating positive changes in the society.
