Youth in Trade Unions

In the period of 28-31.05.2018, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung-Skopje Office and the Youth Section of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) organized a workshop to analyze and discuss important topics on the role of youth in trade unionism aiming at continuous influence on affirmation and promotion of the socio-economic position of young people in the country.

Within the workshop, the participants determined the objectives, mission and vision for the future work of the Youth Section. Through an inclusive process that targeted all relevant stakeholders, organizations and institutions in the process of strengthening the position of young people on the labor market, as well as advocating their rights from work, the young trade unionists also developed a strategy, plan and working program.

For the purpose of effective and efficient realization of the activities foreseen in the working program, the members of the Executive Board of SSM’s Youth Section revised the existing documents, including the Rules and Procedures of the Youth Section as well as the Program and both documents were adopted within the session of the EB held after the workshop.

Along to the members of the Executive Board of the Section, professional contribution to the workshop was also given by Prof. Dragan Gocevski, PhD, Faculty of Law "Iustinianus Primus" Skopje and Vlado Karaev, team building expert. Stressing the need for reforms in the trade unionism movement and proactive inclusion of young people in the overall process, Darko Dimovski, President of SSM, emphasized his support for the work of the Youth Section.
