#MEF23- Macedonian Energy Forum

The Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation- Skopje Office, Rene Schlee durring the sixth #MEF23 emphasized that there is enormous potential in decentralization of energy production, and regulation is the key.

"We collaborate extensively with municipalities. There is enormous potential in decentralizing energy production through improving energy efficiency, establishing energy cooperatives, and public enterprises at the local level. The energy transition must be socially just and citizen-oriented, where local communities play a significant role. If we achieve the energy transition correctly, we will make our communities more resilient to crises. But, it requires appropriate regulation. Regulation is crucial. We need better regulation, on one hand, and incentives, on the other," said Schlee.
