Mobility Congress in Berlin

At the same time, it is proclaimedto be one of the most important building blocks for asustainable economy and society, because without a reductionof CO2 emissions in the transport sector, we will not be able toreach internationally agreed climate targets. The necessarychanges are, however, met with resistance among citizens andin business. These were the main topics that decision-makers, civil society and trade union representatives discussed during the 1^st Mobility Congress in Berlin, organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the period of 5-7 May this year.

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Jani Makradulialso took part of the event, where he underlined the importance of the support that Germany provides for our country in dealing with environmental challenges. In addition, he met the Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany, Svenja Schulze, as well as her predecessor and current MP, Barbara Hendrix. Challenges on the rise, positive experiences, but also concrete steps for bilateral cooperation in the near future between the two ministries and parliamentary representatives were discussed. Other meetings took place during the visit, where Martin Schön Chanushvili from the well-known NGO Germanwatch, shared significant insights on the challenges of North Macedonia in terms of environmental protection and stressed the need for action and positive examples at local level. The Deputy Minister also visited Feldheim - one of the most successful and world-famous examples of an energy self-sustainable village.
