Festival "Housing for All"

The Festival "Housing for All", organized by the Housing and Tenants Organization (ODS) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), is held for the second consecutive year. The festival aims to address issues related to housing and the needs of young people, the gender perspective in housing, tenants' rights, safety and security in housing, sustainable housing, civic participation in decision-making, and many other important topics.

The festival was attended by experts in the field from Sweden, Germany, Belgium, and the International Union of Tenants, who, in partnership with ODS, are working to improve housing in North Macedonia. Representatives from the Regulatory Commission for Housing, other relevant institutions, civil society organizations, youth and student organizations, and other stakeholders in the process were also present.

The main message from the second Housing Festival is "Housing must be accessible to every category of citizen."

Ahead of the festival, a roundtable discussion was held to discuss the challenges young people face regarding housing. Experts from Sweden, Germany, and Belgium shared their experiences and proposed solutions to overcome this global issue.

"Every citizen must have the right to choose where they will live, whether in an owned or rented apartment. This must be supported by the state. The way of housing must be diverse, as people have different needs," emphasized Barbara Steenbergen from the International Union of Tenants.
