"Let's talk about tax!"

Organized by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, on March 29, 2019, the first Public Debate "Let's talk about tax!" Was held at the Faculty of Economics at the University "Goce Delchev" in Shtip.

During the debate, the students had the opportunity to talk about taxes with the Minister of Finance, Mr. Dragan Tevdovski, the Director of the Public Revenue Office, Ms. Sanja Lukarevska, and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Assoc. Dr. Ljupcho Davchev.

Students debated tax types, tax rates, their advantages and disadvantages, characteristics, principles and functions, as well as the effects of the progressive personal income tax on socio-economic flows in the country. In doing so, the Minister of Finance emphasized the decision on progressive taxation as a measure to combat the high rates of inequality and poverty in our country.

Professors and experts on the topic, representatives of the Public Revenue Office in Shtip and the Economic Chamber participated in the debate, and accordingly, a dynamic and argumentative debate was developed, one that encouraged students to show interest in taking active participation in these processes in the future. The conclusions of the debate once again confirmed that our country needs a fair tax system and the measure of progressive taxation of personal income is a step towards achieving this.

The next debate "Let's talk about tax!" Is scheduled for April 17, 2019, at the University of "Southeastern Europe" in Tetovo.
