Panel discussion "Geopolitical Expansion of the EU: New Opportunities, Old Risks"

On December 18th, an event was held as part of the project "Revised EU Enlargement Process: New Geopolitical Context, New Opportunities, Same Risks" at Daut Pashin Amam, organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation - Skopje Office and PoliticUM - Institute for Sustainable and Innovative Policies.

The event began with introductory remarks by Radmila Shekerinska, President of PoliticUM and Vice President of the Party of European Socialists (PES), and Peter Hurelbrink, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in North Macedonia.

The panel titled "Geopolitical Expansion of the EU: New Opportunities, Old Risks?" featured addresses by the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bojan Marichikj, President of the Delegation in the EU-North Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee, Andreas Shider, President of "ELIAMEP," Professor at the University of Athens, Lucas Tsoukalis, and was moderated by Renata Deskoska, Professor at the Faculty of Law "Justinian the First."

The aim of the event was to focus on specific issues related to the latest developments and the views of leaders and experts regarding EU enlargement, as well as the conclusions of the expert group's work in 2023, which summarized the views of progressive political voices, experts, opinion makers, and journalists.
